Hi, my name is Jessica Brown. I am a mother to 3 and reside in Didsbury. I started working in the childcare industry in 2014 which is when I received my Child Development Assistant Certificate. Since then, I have attended Lethbridge College where I received an Honours with Distinction Diploma in Early Childhood Education. In 2016 myself and my best friend pursued our dreams and opened a Daycare together allowing us to create a fun educational environment for children. I am very fortunate to have found a passion where I get to come to work every day and truly love and enjoy what I do. I love getting the opportunity to engage with each child, watching as they learn and grow and getting to be a part of each child’s unique journey.

Hi, my name is Sheryl Murphy. I am a mother of 2 beautiful girls and grew up in Sundre, which is where I received my high school diploma. In 2009 I graduated Marvel College as a certified esthetician; however, in 2012 I started working in the childcare industry and realized this is where my true passion was. Ever since I was a small child, I always enjoyed children and caring for them.  Shortly after beginning my journey in childcare, I received my Child Development Assistant certificate. One thing led to another and now have my Child Development Certificate, my Child Development Diploma as well as owning my own daycare with my best friend.  Together we have been able to create a program that we believe allows children to be themselves while learning and developing in a fun environment. Children thrive when they are nurtured in close, consistent relationships, which is our goal for all children and families in Little Duckling Daycare.

Hi, my name is Michel Murphy and I work at Little Duckling Daycare on floor casually and full time as their bookkeeper as well as for my father at our family business. As if I was not busy enough already, I have also recently become a Zyia rep as I found their products amazing and wanted to share them with my family and friends. I have lived in Sundre for over 30 years and started working in the childcare industry in 2016. This is when I discovered how much I enjoy working with children, while getting the opportunity to see the world through the eyes of a child.

Hi, my name is Carly Carter. I recently moved to Sundre from another small town in Nova Scotia and am originally from Cape Breton. I have pursued an education and acquired a Bachelor of Arts with Psychology Major and a minor in Sociology. I graduated in 2020 and have worked many years as a residential counselor/youth care worker with young children in group homes and emergency placements, as well as with children in juvenile facilities. I spent many years in the foster care system growing up which led to my interest in working with children. I am a mother to 2 beautiful boys with another on the way. Some of my greatest happiness comes from watching children grow, thrive in their environments, and watching their unique personalities emerge.

Hi, my name is Cherokee Strader, and I am a mother of 1 about to be 2 and am currently on maternity leave. I moved to Sundre in 2018 and have lived in Alberta for over 9 years now. Originally, I am from Nova Scotia but consider Alberta my home. Living in Sundre has given me the small town feel that I was born and raised in. Not only do I love small towns, but I also want my child to be raise in the same setting. I join the Little Duckling team in 2021 and since then have received my Child Development Assistance Certificate and am currently working towards my Child Development Certificate. I am fortunate that not only do I get to bring my child with me to work but I also get to watch other children grow and develop which is truly a rewarding feeling knowing that I can have a positive impact on the children and their futures. I look forward to what this career holds for me and can’t wait to meet all the children and families that attend Little Duckling Daycare.

Hello, I am Shay Closter. I have lived in Sundre for 14 years and graduated high school here in 2021. I have always had a great passion for working with children ever since I was a young child. As I got older, I began babysitting frequently which has led me to follow my dream of working with children. I started at Little Duckling Daycare in January 2023 and have loved it, watching the children learn new skills and explore the world around them is the highlight of my day.

Hi, my name is Indigo Bothe. I've been living in Sundre for the last eight years, and I graduated from Sundre High School in 2023. I have always enjoyed working with kids and having this opportunity has been wonderful for me! Being able to watch kids learns and develop new skills if very fulfilling to me. Though I am only here until the end of July, I am going to enjoy every minute!

Hello, my name is Abigail, I am a student attending Sundre High school. I have lived in Sundre my whole life and I plan on staying here after I graduate. I love working with kids due to their creative and unique personalities. I have been babysitting for 6 years now and I have loved working at the daycare. One of my favorite things is watching the kids grow and develop new skills. Teaching is something I have wanted to do since I was little, and I am so grateful that I can now do that.
